Does Fine Line Tattoo Hurt More?
The pain sensation of a fine line tattoo is often described differently than traditional tattoos. Because the needle grouping is very small (often a single point), the force is concentrated in a tiny area, creating a sensation that can feel "sharp," "stinging," or like a "hot razor blade" or "scalpel." However, because the artist usually makes fewer passes over the skin and causes less overall trauma, many clients find the pain more manageable and the sessions less exhausting than heavy packing sessions.
